Mortar

A mixture of cementitious materials, fine aggregates, water, and often lime or admixtures, used to bond masonry units together. Mortar fills the joints between units, provides a weatherproof seal, and distributes loads evenly across the wall. Different types of mortar are specified based on strength requirements and exposure conditions.
