A measure of the consistency and workability of fresh concrete or mortar. Slump is determined by filling a cone-shaped mold with the mixture, removing the mold, and measuring the vertical settlement or “slump” of the material. The slump test helps ensure that concrete or mortar has the proper consistency for placement and consolidation.
